Adventure Ecology — Making Learning an Adventure

Adventure Ecology promotes respect and responsibility for the Planet, its environment, species and peoples by developing a greater connection with nature and an understanding of one of the Planet’s greatest challenges: Sustainability.

Adventure Ecology undertakes expeditions to some of the world’s most dangerous, exciting and environmentally challenged zones, helping people to share in the wonders of nature and see the devastating effects of global warming on ecosystems.

It is their aim to captivate and inspire tomorrow’s environmental thinkers and doers.

Adventure Ecology was founded in 2005 by adventurer, environmentalist and National Geographic ‘Emerging Explorer’, David de Rothschild.

After an Arctic expedition to the North Pole, and long before politicians and national news agencies used such trips to realign themselves to this previously perceived environmental hot-potato, David de Rothschild sought to communicate environmental issues and promote positive behaviour to the single most dynamic and influential power for change—today’s youth.

To achieve this he formed Adventure Ecology and began to build the organisation on the ethos of “Making Learning an Adventure”.

Fuga was commissioned to help deliver the Adventure Ecology message and partnership opportunities, such as The Plastiki Expedition, to the commercial world with a view to developing sponsorship and support for the AE youth movement.



Capturing the attention of serious business minds
In courting the commercial world, we needed to deliver the long-term picture for AE, one that included the key educational assets, a proposition for campaigns, along with a dynamic stream of ideas, options and possibilities that would become ‘do-able’ with the support of significant commercial partnership and sponsorship. We needed to make all of this information accessible and attractive to serious business minds without losing the passion and unique proposition of AE as a world-wide youth movement for environmental change.

Together with Adventure Ecology we set out to develop and make tangible the AE concepts in place for the next few years of promotional and educational activity and to outline the opportunities available to commercial businesses whereby they could align themselves with an independent, environmental and educational media company with the potential to forge the important link between the commercial world and NGO's, scientific organisations, conservation groups, and a potentially global youth movement.

Once the concepts were structured, the intangibles defined and the opportunities identified, we set about creating a prospectus for the AE organisation.

The voice of a world–wide youth movement
Adventure Ecology is fast becoming the crystal-clear voice of a world-wide environmental youth movement. David’s desire to communicate environmental issues and promote SMART solutions and responsible actions has become a reality – strong relationships have been forged with organisations such as, the Royal Geographical Society, the UK Department for Education, BSKYB, Adobe, Apple, National Geographic, IWC, HP and, with further support and encouragement from environmental entrepreneurs such as Sir Richard Branson, Adventure Ecology is set to become a 21st–century powerhouse for environmental change.
